History and Philosophy of Science Informatics Workshop

On April 12-15, 2012, approximately 20 participants attended the HPS workshop entitled “[Model] Organisms Meet Digital HPS” at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA. The workshop was supported, in part, by a NSF grant to Jason Robert. During the workshop, participants heard some of the discourse on the status of model organisms and discussed how digital interfaces and repositiories could be used to inform key debates about the choice of model organisms in developmental biology and neuroscience. The workshop showcased the close collaboration between the Digital HPS and Embryo Project in the use and structure of digital repositories. The attendees were faculty and graduate students, from as far away as Australia, including four professors and eight graduate students/postdoctoral fellows from Arizona State University.
