AAAS 2019 Travel and Logistics

2019 Conference: Washington, D.C.
February 14th – 17th

The AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science) meeting is the world's largest general scientific meeting. Attendance at this meeting is a wonderful opportunity to present your research, to attend sessions on a full range of science and policy topics, and to network with members of the international scientific community!

We have a limited number of travel awards and while applications will be competitive, this is an exciting opportunity! Don’t miss out!

Early October ~ Applicants notified of acceptance
October 18, 2018 ~ Abstract submitted to AAAS 
Early November ~ Students notified of acceptance by AAAS and hotel reservations made
Early January ~ Mandatory travel meeting (Airline tickets purchased) 
February 14, 2019 ~ Morning flight to D.C.
February 17, 2019 ~ Afternoon flight to Phoenix
February 20, 2019 ~ 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Drop-in travel expense report help
February 21, 2019 ~ All travel expense reports must be completed

Once Accepted

If you accept thIS AAAS Travel award, you will be part of a large group.  you must accept the following conditions:

1) You must submit your poster abstract to AAAS by the deadline and have it accepted by AAAS in order to attend.  The deadline to submit your poster abstract online is Thursday, October 18th by noon.  Email a copy of your submission with your updated abstract to Jessica Ranney (Jessica.Ranney@asu.edu) or drop both items off in the Center for Biology and Society (LSC 284) by October 18th.  Please read the new AAAS guidelines very carefully. 

2) You will be expected to attend and participate in the full AAAS meeting, Thursday through Sunday. This means you may miss some classes.  If a professor needs a letter, please contact Jessica.

Travel Information

1) Please be aware that our goal is to get everyone on the same flight. We will probably book a flight leaving Thursday morning and returning Sunday evening depending on when everyone presents their posters.  More information to come. 

2) You will be sharing a hotel room which will need to be reserved using a personal credit card. Please speak with Jessica directly with any issues.
